Amacher, Maryanne

Maryanne Amacher (1938–2009), United States

Studied at the University of Pennsylvania; teachers included Karlheinz Stockhausen. May be considered both a composer of electroacoustic music and an installation artist. In 1967 she created City Links: Buffalo, a 28-hour piece using five microphones placed at various locations around the city of Buffalo, N.Y., that transmitted sound to the local radio station.
