Vivian Fine (1913–2000), United States

Began studying composition at an early age; teachers included Ruth Crawford. Made her professional as a composer at age 16 with performances of Solo for Oboe and Two Pieces for Two Flutes. Was a co-founder of the American Composers Alliances. Over her long career, her output included music for solo instrument, solo voice, chamber ensemble, string orchestra, choir, and orchestra.
