Maria Bellido Rodrigo (1888–1967), Spain

Composer and pianist. Studied music at the Madrid Conservatory, where she returned in 1933 as professor of voice and instrumental ensemble. Left Spain during the Spanish Civil War (1939) and moved to Bogotá, Colombia. She wrote piano and chamber music, three operas, and two operettas, as well as orchestral works. She founded the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music with Pablo Casals.
