Olga Louise Bjelke Andersen (1857–1940), Norway

Composer, pianist, and conductor. Unlike many other women composers of the nineteenth century, she continued to compose even after her marriage. She wrote songs and works for piano and for orchestra (including the so-called salon orchestra); she also wrote music for theatrical productions in Kristiania and Oslo. She founded a chamber orchestra and was instrumental in the formation of Drammens Byorkester (now Drammen Symfoniorkester).
