Alice Samter (1908–2004), Germany

Composer and music educator. Studied at the Academy of Music in Berlin. After working as a music teacher in Spandau, she began to compose. She was active in the International Working Group on Women and Music and in the International League of Woman Composers in the United States. She composed for choir, chamber ensemble, piano, and solo voice, as well as six operas.
