KVAST is a nonprofit organization open to everyone, regardless of gender or background, who is in sympathy with our goals and wants to help us achieve them.

The goals of KVAST are:

  • To increase the percentage of works by women composers in the repertoire
  • To educate program committees about the existing repertoire of music written by women
  • To raise awareness for gender as a consideration when selecting repertoire

Become a member – SEK 150!

The current membership fee is SEK 150. You can pay with Swish, with your bank card, or via PayPal. Our Swish number is 123 230 3279. The Swedish Association of Women Composers (Kvinnlig Anhopning av Svenska Tonsättare – KVAST) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to raise awareness for women composers and promote the performance of their music.
What’s a kvast, you may ask? In Swedish, the word kvast means “broom.”
