Carin Bartosch Edström (b. 1965), Stockholm

Composer, writer, and translator.

Edström studied composition for Rolf Martinsson, Hans Gefors, Lars Ekström, Lars-Erik Rosell and Sven-David Sandström and received her degree in composition in 1999. She founded the Lund Student Opera and she was orchestra manager for Musica Vitae in Växjö from 1990–1992.

Edström is a founding member of the women’s composer’s association Opus 96, and with Mats Rondin and Marianne Jacobs also founded the Skanör/Falsterbo Chamber Music Festival. She was elected to the Society of Swedish Composers in 2000.

In 2011 Edström made her authorial debut with the detective novel Furioso, about a Swedish women’s string quartet.

Edström has also worked as a translator since the 1980s. She has translated librettos and is the Swedish translator of the Egmont paperback comic series Kalle Ankas Pocket.
