Renate Birnstein (b. 1946), Germany
Composer, violinist, and pianist. Studied at the Hochschule für Musik in Hamburg where her teachers included György Ligeti, and went on to teach there as well. She has composed for chamber ensemble, orchestra, piano, and choir; she has also written music for the theater.
