Began her musical career as a violinist but soon switched to studying composition; her teachers included Donald Erb, George Crumb, Harvey Sollberger and Frederick Fox. Her works are frequently performed in the U.S. and she has composed music for orchestra, chamber orchestra, chamber ensemble, solo voice, and solo instruments.
