Carmen Maria Cârneci (b. 1957), Bucharest, Romania
Studied composition and conduction at the Bucharest conservatory; studied composition as a DAAD fellow at the Musikhochschule in Freiburg. She has won major prizes for composition in Mannheim, Rome, Cologne, Bucharest, and Hong Kong.
Cârneci is the artistic director of the new music ensemble devotioModerna, which she founded in Bucharest in 2005.
