Teresa Carreno (1853–1917), Venezuela
Pianist, singer, conductor, composer. Made her debut as a pianist at age eight at Irving Hall in New York and her opera debut at age 23. Lived and studied in New York and Berlin and toured extensively in the U.S., Europe, and around the world. She wrote some 40 works for piano, voice and piano, choir and orchestra, and chamber ensemble.
