Hedwige (Gennaro-) Chrétien (1859–1944), France

Composer; after 1899 a professor at the Paris Conservatory (where she began her studies in 1874). She won a number of composition competitions and composed some 150 works, including piano, orchestral, and chamber music as well as songs, choral pieces, music for two ballets, and two operas (La Cinquantaine and Menuet de l’Impératrice).
