Born in Essex. She began her musical training at the Yehudi Menuhin School, Gonville, and continued at Caius College at the University of Cambridge. Won the BBC’s Young Composer Competition in 1996 and has since received numerous distinctions, including the Royal Philharmonic Society Composition Prize (2007). Her output includes works for orchestra, large ensemble, chamber ensemble, solo instrument, and choir, as well as music for theater and dance productions.
