Varvara Andrianovna Gaigerova (1903–1944), Russia
Composer, pianist, and concertmaster. Trained at the Moscow Conservatory, where she studied composition for Nikolai Miaskovsky. She was concertmaster for the Bolshoi Theater Orchestra from 1936–1944.
Her compositions inspired by the folk music of minority groups have received particular attention. She also wrote three symphonies, two string quartets, a number of piano sonatas, and songs (some with texts by Pushkin).
