Ida Gotkovsky (b. 1933), France
Began composing at age eight. Studied at the Paris Conservatory where her teachers included Olivier Messiaen and Nadia Boulanger. She was strongly influenced by Messiaen’s compositional techniques, including the use of modal sounds and additive rhythms. Her extensive oeuvre includes chamber music, large orchestral pieces, choral compositions, operas, and a number of solo works.
