Betzy Holmberg (1860–1900), Finland
Born in Düsseldorf, she grew up with her maternal grandparents in Oslo. Studied music at the Copenhagen Conservatory (1877–1879) and the Leipzig Conservatory (1880–1883). Her compositions include Andante mit ‘Variationen’; Scherzo aus einem Streichquartett (1881); Clavier Suite, Präludium und Fuge (1882) for which she received the Mozart Stipend; Variationen für Piano und Cello (1883); Drei Sätze aus einer Suite für Orchester, a sonata, and a Violin-Suite with piano.
