Imogen Holst (1907–1984), United Kingdom

Composer and conductor; daughter of Isobel and Gustav Holst. Studied harmony and counterpoint with Ralph Vaughn William at the Royal College of Music, London. Collaborated with Benjamin Britten and Peter Pears at the Aldeburgh Festival, where she lived until her death. She arranged William Byrd’s Sellinger’s Round for string orchestra and wrote the textbook An ABC of Music, which is still in print.
