Began piano studies at age five. Later studied at the University of California, Berkeley, and at Brandeis University, Michigan. Professor at the State University of New York (SUNY). She has composed for orchestra, chamber orchestra, chamber ensemble, solo instruments, voice, and choir. She has also written three operas.
