Fredrika Stenhammar (1836–1880), Sweden

Opera singer, voice teacher, composer. Born in Visby; her maiden name was Fredrika Andrée. She was the older syster of Elfrida Andrée. As a child she received lessons from her father in music, composition, and music theory. Later she studied piano, harmony, and composition at the Leipzig Conservatory. In 1855 she made her professional debut at the Royal Theater in Stockholm where she performed some 50 major roles. Her compositions include songs for voice and piano.
