Karen Tanaka (b. 1961), Japan
Began studying piano and composition as a child. Continued her studies in Tokyo, Paris, and IRCAM and for Luciano Berio. Her interest in nature and the environment has influenced many of her works, such as Questions of Nature, Frozen Horizon, Water and Stone, Dreamscape, Ocean, Tales of Trees, and Water Dance. She has composed orchestral, chamber, solo instrumental, and electroacoustic msuic.
