Pauline García-Viardot (1821–1910), France
Singer and pianist; she studied voice with her father, Manual García, and piano with Franz Liszt. Married the director of the Théatre Italien in Paris, Louis Viardot, who left the directorship and accompanied Pauline on her concert tours throughout Europe. She was elected into the Royal Swedish Academy of Music in 1870. She composed operettas and pieces for violin and piano, and arranged for voice a number of Hungarian dances and mazurkas by Chopin.
