Emiliana de Zubeldia (1888–1987), Spain/Mexico

Pianist and composer. Studied at the Madrid Conservatory and at Schola Cantorum in Paris. She moved to Latin America during the Spanish Civil War and toured there as a concert pianist. In 1935 she became a Mexican citizen. She founded a music academy at the university in Sonora, Mexico, where she taught and was a choir director for 40 years. She wrote music for piano, guitar, chamber ensemble, choir, and orchestra.
